The driver's seat back.

  1. Unbolt armrests from seat back
  2. Unbolt the seat from the body (four screws and two square nuts).
  3. Remove hidem banding, stuffing and vinyl.
  4. Cut vinyl slightly over size.
  5. Remove all the tacks from the seat back.
  6. Clean and paint the wooden seat back, removing rust from the steel brackets.
  7. Trim horse hair to shape.
  8. Pin covering along top edge using cut tacks, pinning every 5/8in, at about 3/16in from the back edge (so that they will line up with middle of hidem banding.
  9. Place horsehair in position. Pin along bottom edge of seat back, keeping vinyl taught.
  10. Pin along around the corners. A lot of effort is needed to avoid creases, and it will need to be pinned more regularly.
  11. Trim the excess vinyl.
  12. Pin on hidem banding (making the join in the middle on the bottom edge). The hidem banding needs to be pinned approximately every 1in.
  13. Refit seat to body, holes will have to be made in seat cover to take bolts that hold handrails.
